This Glass House Has a View From Every Room!
Patterned after a luxurious villa in Phuket, this glass house designed by Cara De Ocampo for her parents features a suspended pool overlooking the clear waters of Batangas. The 1500-square meter weekend getaway is a glass house that merges a modern structure with its surrounding elements.
The house is named “Capitano” as a tribute to Cara’s stepdad’s sea captain father. Her mom initially wanted a Mediterranean home, but Kara wanted something different and more Filipino. Cara sought help from Vazdesigns Asia Consult Inc. in patterning the glass house to the exclusive villa in Phuket.
The Capitano glass house can actually double as a gallery for Filipino artists and furniture designers. The owner sourced furniture from a lot of different designers, from Milo Naval to Vito Selma.
In the living room, a mix of modern pieces with raw materials and various textures dominate. No artworks needed in this space, the glass allows the home to have picturesque views from every angle.
Yoda bar chairs from Kenneth Cobonpue give the kitchen a tropical personality. The family loves to have guests over thus, a big and fully functioning kitchen was a must.
The customized dining table is paired with Louis Ghost chairs, ideal for guests who often alternate between swimming and eating. Since leather will peel and fabric will soak, Cara opted for polycarbonate ghost chairs for its durability and low-maintenance properties.
The guest bedroom is a crowd favorite with its cozy and welcoming vibe. What makes the house great is that every room has a great view of either the seaside or nearby green mountains.
Glass doors and windows enclose the property in all corners, allowing guests to enjoy great views from every corner. Also, this means that the house bathes in a lot of natural light.
