For Maricar dela Rama, design should not only be beautiful but practical as well. “I believe design should be warm, inviting and friendly. If the end user is afraid to use your design, then you failed as a designer!” she says. She took up International Studies before taking up Interior Design. “The two disciplines I learned from the academe comprise my personal style. I like to travel and exposure to new places and cultures inspire me to create fresh spaces”, she shares. She is drawn to the laid-back charm of the French country style.
“Due to dramatic climate changes and the damage brought about by the abuse of the environment, green will be the focus of interior design.” she says. She adds that there will be a lot of natural and textural materials in composing spaces, while bolder prints and unexpected colors will make them more exciting. Furthermore, she says that knowing what you want will help you achieve your dream home. “It is easier to make mistakes on paper than during construction.” she shares.
