Proportion is the core of Michael “Mike” Salvador’s work. “The spaces I leave looking bare are as essential as the lines and elements I put in”, he shares. Mike graduated cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas and was also hailed by Katha Awards as the Most Promising Young Filipino Designer. He is fascinated with Tropical Modern designs or any continental style mixed with modernity, citing Philippe Starck’s works and Richard Avedon’s images as his influences.

Mike advises new home-owners to “render a new house with semi-dramatic lighting to enhance its features.” For those who are renovating, he suggests avoiding too many partitions and to make walls look less solid.
