Scandinavian Chic meets Filipino Flair in this 300 Square Meter Condo

Owned by a Swedish banker-turned-photographer and a management consultant for a global consultancy firm, this 300 square meter condo in BGC marries Scandinavian Chic with Filipino Flair. Moving to Manila from Sweden was a family move that the couple made a couple of years ago. The couple has two daughters and moved to Manila to get out of the super comfortable life in Sweden. Here’s a tour of their condo that marries their Nordic and Scandinavian roots with their new Filipino home.

FOYER

Upon entering the unit, you are greeted by two reproduced prints of acclaimed Filipino photographer Eduardo Masferre and a console by Karl Aguila.

LIVING ROOM

The family brought in furniture from their previous home, among them is the chesterfield sofa set and a hand woven rug from Kasthall in the living area.

MIDWAY SPACE

In between the living and dining room is a creative corner for the couple’s daughters and doubles as an informal area for casual dinners. The low table is made by Filipino furniture maker Karl Aguila of Atelier Aguila.

The condo has a wide variety of Karl Aguila’s work in their home. From the cowhide table in the midway space and the “furnitculpture” side table. The patchwork doll is by Elaine Jose Bobadilla.

DINING ROOM

In the dining area, a cabinet made with recycled wood from Sweden give the space texture. With the dining set and lighting fixture coming in a stark, Scandinavian white, the shapes of the furniture come in unconventional shapes to add personality to the space.

HOME OFFICE

With a his-and-her’s nook, the home office is a great place for the couple to get some work done. A bull head from Aguila hangs in the study and a Prizmic & Brill x-stretcher table and chair hold court for a Filipino touch.

KIDS’ ROOM

The couple’s two daughters enjoy their own space in their respective bedrooms. A bunk bed by Karl Aguila is the main feature in their bedroom. The room is kept muted in true Scandinavian fashion as the kids’ toys bring color and variety into the room.

BEDROOM

The couple replicated their Scandinavian bedroom in Sweden in their condo in Manila. Their side table is actually a mini chair. Hanging on the wall are works from M.C. Escher.
